Holiday in the Lake District part 2

TIME FOR THE LAST LOT OF PICTURES TAKEN WHILE WE WERE AWAY IN THE LAKE DISTRICT.

On one of our walks we went on, well I won’t say we went all the way up a mountain but it felt high, I’m sure the air was getting thin 🙂 . We parked at Dodd Woods, next to The old sawmill and followed the river running down it. A good way up we stopped at a group of birds watchers who showed us a few locations about half a mile away with their spotting scopes. Great views right across Bassenthwaite Lake.

Next stop was just across the road called Mirehouse & Gardensand with having Kylo with us on this walk we couldn’t go in the house, so just a nice walk around the gardens. Plenty to see and a few things for the kids to do as walking around.

Found a lovely little pub for dinner one night called The Sun Inn, a traditional 16th Century Pub in the village of Bassenthwaite. Nice food and friendly staff.

On our way home we stopped at Lowther Castle, to see the castle and garden. Really nice place, with lots to see and do. They have a fantastic play area called the lost castle which is massive, and the boys could spend all day just in there! They have all sorts of little areas with thing to find and discover.

Here are a few panoramic shots taken.
